Survivor Beach was created in 2007 as a way to bring together individuals in the community to show their support for cancer research and to honor all individuals in their fight against cancer.
Participants form a symbol of support by creating the longest line of surfboards laying in the sand nose-to-tail. The line starts at Scripps Pier and extends towards La Jolla Shores. Click here for a map. The Heali'i's Polynesian Revue will blow the conch to start the event and perform traditional dances.
- Last year, approximately 200 people made a line that was just over three football fields long.
- Help us break last year's record - bring your quiver!
This event is free and open to the community. Participants will receive a free Surfing for a Cure souvenir and be registered to win a pair of tickets to the 2009 Luau & Longboard Invitational.
The 3rd Annual Survivor Beach will take place Sunday, August 23rd, 2009 from 8 - 10 a.m. on the beach near Scripps Pier in La Jolla, California. Thank you to all who participated over the past two years. For pictures, click here and here.
Thank you to Genentech Oceanside for sponsoring Survivor Beach for the past two years (2008, 2009).
