ABOUT THE LUAU & LONGBOARD INVITATIONAL

Each August, an all volunteer committee puts on the Moores UCSD Cancer Center Luau & Longboard Invitational to increase cancer awareness and raise much needed funds for cancer research and care.

Now in its 16th year, we have become one of the most succesful surfing fundraisers and donated more than $3 million for the Moores UCSD Cancer Center.

The Luau & Longboard Invitational has an international reputation for bringing together in the aloha spirit some of the most respected men and women in surfing history with community leaders, scientists, and national celebrities to surf for a cure.

We also hold an annual cancer awareness event called Survivor Beach and host special events like 2008's one-night-only30th anniversary screening of Big Wednesday.

• At the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, California.
